Timothy M. Korn, CPA, is the Vice President of Finance for the Jacobs Institute (JI). In his role, Tim oversees and manages all financial activities of the JI, including directing preparations of all financial reports, optimizing the value of organizational offerings, creating forecasts predicting future growth initiatives, generating business models for new ventures, and managing financial risk assessments of both current and future projects.
Prior to the Jacobs Institute, Tim worked as a CFO at a private university in Buffalo, NY leading the institution’s Financial Affairs division by deploying innovative technologies and streamlining accounting processes to better align talent with existing resources. Some of his successes include spearheading an academic program portfolio review, managing the financial impact of COVID-19 and coordinating applications for federal financial relief programs, leading a $59 million public debt refinancing and first-time bond rating issuance, and assisting in a $27 million capital construction project by securing funding in the form of state grants, federal and state tax credit programs, and private corporate donations.
Tim also has 13 years of public accounting experience guiding firms in expanding into new sectors, conducting various trainings in accounting and auditing (both internally and externally), and assisting not-for-profits (particularly health and human services), employee benefits plans, country clubs, milk cooperatives, manufacturing, and family-owned entities. He has led and supervised diverse teams of various sizes, served as a consultant to companies in different industries, and has presented to various companies and at conferences.
Born and raised in Western New York, Tim enjoys spending time with his 2 young children (Julianna and Nicholas), is an avid bowler, and enjoys spending time in his home kitchen as a vegan chef.
