Clinical Training Overview

The Clinical Education and Experiential Learning Programs have established the JI as an elite global provider of advanced physician training and industry immersion programs. New medical devices developed for complex cardiovascular and neurological diseases are becoming more sophisticated and challenging to use effectively and safely. The JI’s unique facility is an ideal location to host physicians for new device training with a variety of capabilities, including live case observation & discussion with surgeons from GVI catheterization labs, hands-on experience with patient- specific 3D-printed anatomical models, medical simulation, cadaver labs, lectures, and more. The JI also offers residents and fellows’ programs and labs sponsored by organizations such as the Congress of Neurological Surgeons as well as industry, specializing in both endovascular and surgical procedures. These programs are geared toward individual physician observation, as well as small group observation, and include hands-on one-on-one time with clinical experts to understand treatment decisions.

Clinical Training Overview

customized immersion and learning programs

Our customized immersion and learning programs allow engineers, regulatory reviewers, and medical professionals to observe devices in the clinical environment, leading to improved medical devices and accelerated learning. Since program inception, the JI has trained 3,000+ physicians, engineers, medical sales reps, senior executives, and more with our clinical training programs in neuro, cardio, EP, and spine.

Training program assessment – Each of the JI’s clinical training programs is rigorously assessed using a facilitated feedback exercise with the participants at the end of each program and an electronic post-program survey sent to participants the week after the program. Results of the assessments are sent to the client for discussion and then are used to refine future programming with that audience.

Training Impact – Since 2014, the JI has trained over 3,250 physicians, industry professionals, and medical device reviewers in person and thousands more virtually.  These programs have introduced Buffalo and its hotels and restaurants to visitors from all over the world.

The Jacobs Institute Training and Education Portal (JITEP) is a service offered to our clients which will allow them controlled access to recorded content created by the Jacobs Institute during their onsite program. This service can be added to any proposal created by the JI for training or engineering programs.
