YOUTH ENGAGEMENT PROGRAMS IN STEM & HEALTHCARE

The JI’s education and leadership program has become a learning destination for a variety of constituents ranging from school children to physicians, industry leaders, and government officials. Since 2012, more than 3000 grade school and high school students from all over Western New York have visited us to learn about the brain, vascular disease, 3D printing, and clinical simulation. At the same time, high school students in the Buffalo area can participate in a two-week program that exposes them to the Buffalo medical campus and careers in healthcare. We also offer a robust summer internship program that provides college students with the opportunity to develop leadership skills and gain experiential learning in engineering, education, regulatory services, and more. Today, eight of these interns have joined our ranks as full-time JI staff and many have entered graduate & medical school programs, or started their own companies, or gained employment at Apple, the NSF, Boston Scientific, and more. This is a vital part of our mission to push forward the future of medicine as we hope to usher in next generation leaders in healthcare.

In addition to our on-site opportunities, the JI also hosts live health and career-themed webinars and participates in science exhibitions. Tell us how we can help at your next community STEM event!
